Realogistics provided exhibition transportation services between the U.S. and government-funded universities

Realogistics was commissioned by a university to handle the transportation of its technological invention model between Hong Kong and San Francisco for exhibition purposes.

Exhibition Information:

- Exhibition Name: Silicon Valley International Invention Festival

- Exhibition Dates: July 26-28, 2024

- Exhibition Venue: Santa Clara Convention Center – Hall D

- Mode of Transportation: Air Freight

Operational Challenges:

1. ATA Carnet Clearance and Endorsement: The ATA Carnet documents required customs submission and endorsement for both import and export. Due to the high storage fees and short free storage periods at both the Hong Kong and U.S. terminals, precise coordination of flight arrival, endorsement, and ATA Carnet delivery was crucial to avoid long-term storage and additional fees.

2. Limited Trucking Resources in the U.S.: Few U.S. trucking companies are willing to handle shipments to and from exhibition venues, as loading and unloading often involve long wait times. This was especially challenging given that the exhibition ended on a Sunday evening, making it difficult to find reliable transport services.

Operational Timeline:

- July 8: The client signed the endorsement letter for Hong Kong customs and the authorization letter for the U.S. customs broker in advance.

- July 10: After picking up the cargo and original ATA Carnet documents from the university, they were delivered to the terminal for customs endorsement.

- July 13: The endorsed original ATA Carnet was sent to the U.S. customs broker.

- July 15: The flight departed and arrived at San Francisco Airport on the same day local time.

- July 16: The ATA documents were delivered to the U.S. customs broker, and customs clearance was arranged.

- July 18: Clearance was completed, and the cargo was delivered to the exhibition's official service contractor's advance warehouse.

- July 28: The exhibition ended, and cargo was picked up at 5:00 PM that evening.

- August 1: The cargo was delivered to San Francisco Airport.

- August 2: ATA Carnet export endorsement was completed, and the cargo passed customs inspection and was repackaged.

- August 6: The cargo arrived at Hong Kong Airport.

- August 9: ATA Carnet import endorsement in Hong Kong was completed, and the cargo and documents were returned to the client.

With extensive experience in handling exhibition cargo and close collaboration with its U.S. team, Realogistics successfully completed this transportation task. The client highly praised the service, resulting in the establishment of a long-term partnership.
