This project, managed by Realogistics, involves the transportation of four 20-foot flat racks from Xiamen to Keelung, containing aircraft fairings and thrust reversers. The shipments are divided into four separate transports.
Challenges and Analysis:
1. Container Loading Approvals
Due to the oversized dimensions of the cargo, Realogistics was required to provide the specific cargo measurements to the shipping line for approval. Only after receiving approval could the space be arranged. For the extra-wide cargo, a letter of guarantee was required, along with photos of the loaded container. Final approval had to be obtained from the shipping line before the container could be returned. The cargo dimensions were as follows:
- 359.00 cm x 356.00 cm x 215.00 cm / 406.00 cm x 330.00 cm x 220.00 cm
- 410.00 cm x 303.00 cm x 234.00 cm / 374.00 cm x 374.00 cm x 207.00 cm
2. Waterproofing and Moisture Protection
Based on the cargo dimensions, Realogistics customized blue and silver tarps for the cargo prior to loading. Effective waterproofing and moisture protection measures were implemented to prevent damage during transit.
3. Time Constraints and Customs Process
The free stacking period for special containers was limited to three days, while the export customs process in Xiamen required pre-declaration before the official customs declaration. Realogistics optimized the process, completing container loading, return, and customs clearance within one day to ensure the transport plan proceeded on schedule.
4. Professional Lashing Requirements
On the day of loading, Realogistics coordinated with the factory to ensure sufficient personnel and equipment were available. Professional lashing personnel were arranged on-site to meet the shipping line's requirements. The cargo was reinforced with wooden frames at the front and back to prevent movement during transit, maintaining balance and ensuring safety.
